Samples
INPRIMAT is creating a bank of biological material of non-human primates consisting of samples of tissues, nucleic acids, and cell lines available for all the European scientific community and other interested parties. This bank of biological material will contribute to:
1. Avoid repeated sampling from natural populations.
2. Avoid invasive sampling procedures both by establishing immortalised cell lines and incorporating preserved material.
3. Expand the knowledge about primate diversity for conservation and forensic purposes.
4. Promote cohesion and collaboration among isolated European educational, conservation and research institutions.
However, for the development of this bank it is essential to have the collaboration of institutions such as zoos, conservation associations and museums that have direct access to primate living and preserved collections which they are prepared to make available to researchers. If your institution is interested in collaborating, you will also receive support from us to collect and send the samples and will be acknowledged in scientific works that have used your samples. In the future you might also be interested in becoming an associate INPRIMAT member.
How can I donate samples to INPRIMAT?
Members of INPRIMAT will maintain the collection in suitable conditions and open to the scientific community upon request. We will also ask for references to secure that the work done with your samples is scientifically relevant, fully legal, ethically sound and respectful with animal rights. In counterpart for the use of your samples, the users will pay a small fee to cover the banking and management expenses, as well as mailing costs.
